ADHD Assessment

Do You Suspect That You May Be Living With ADHD?

Do you struggle with time management and tend to procrastinate? Is it difficult for you to plan or stay organized? Do people misunderstand you, call you lazy, or become frustrated that you just don’t “do the thing?” Are you constantly restless and feel the need to do multiple things at once?

Perhaps social settings overwhelm you because you try to mask your ADHD traits. Or maybe you’re struggling to understand why your thoughts, emotions, and actions can be so impulsive or "too much.” Furthermore, your experiences could be even more difficult to understand if you’ve been misdiagnosed in the past.

On the other hand, are you particularly creative, and imaginative, and thrive in fast-paced environments? Can you easily think outside the box and generate solutions to problems? Do you have an incredible ability to hyper-focus on things that you’re passionate about? Are you a natural leader and would love to be your own boss?

You truly want to know if you’re neurodivergent and how you can learn to become kinder and more accommodating toward yourself.

ADHDers Perceive The World Through A Different Lens

ADHD manifests in various ways. We understand from research that it runs in families and we acknowledge ADHD is a natural difference in the ways brains are wired. However, our clients often come to us for an assessment when running into challenges navigating a neurotypical society, which may look like the following:

You may struggle with impulsivity, restlessness, poor concentration, fidgeting, and forgetfulness. Often, you may be called lazy or unmotivated when really, you’re trying your best.

You might make a lot of mistakes that have significantly impacted your work or school life, like forgetting an attachment before sending an email, misreading information, or even forgetting appointments and showing up on the wrong day.

Maybe you have a hard time controlling your emotions or an even harder time not allowing them to control you.

Our clinicians at Neuron & Rose Psychological Services specialize in ADHD testing and assessments so that you have the right support and an opportunity for a proper diagnosis.

ADHD— It’s More Common Than You’d Think

It’s estimated that adult ADHD affects more than eight million people or up to five percent of Americans. (1)

Due to increased awareness of ADHD and what it looks like in people who are not boys/men, researchers are finding that the condition can be just as common in girls/women or genderqueer folks, but it may show up in different ways. (2)

While men are known to display increased hyperactivity and impulsive behaviors, women, on the other hand, demonstrate more inattentive traits. Sometimes, the experience of “hyperactivity” may be more internal or less obvious.

Having a trusted clinician by your side to offer the right resources, accommodations, or therapeutic referrals can make a drastic difference in your quality of life.

Society Isn’t As ‘ADHD-Accommodating’ As It Could Be

There are a plethora of ADHDers who have been misdiagnosed with other conditions like bipolar disorder. Unfortunately, they are being treated and/or taking medication for an inaccurate diagnosis.

Additionally, it’s a daily challenge having to navigate school or work without support, all while wondering whether you have ADHD or something entirely different. Trying age-old strategies to no avail and being told to try planners and set reminders can be invalidating and ineffective.

Adult ADHD assessments/evaluations can provide diagnostic clarity and illuminate the next steps you need to take to finally feel fulfilled.

Adult ADHD Testing Is Crucial For Understanding And Honoring The Way Your Brain Works

At Neuron & Rose Psychological Services, our comprehensive ADHD testing process offers you a deeper understanding of yourself, your strengths, and your challenges. Our clinicians will help you explore the path forward that will be the most beneficial for you.

ADHD testing can foster better awareness and communication in interpersonal relationships and teach you ways to help your brain and body work best for you at work/school. You will learn that it is possible to function in the workplace, connect with others, find community, and feel validated.

Our ADHD Testing Process

Most of our ADHD evaluations are done via telehealth and last for five testing appointments, each lasting approximately two hours. We encourage you to arrange your space in a sensory-friendly way and wear comfortable clothing. You can bring fidgets, water, a snack, and a medium to take notes with.

You can feel free to bring notes or a binder if you’ve done any research on what ADHD traits you identify with. You can also share any anecdotes or information from family and friends.

Results and feedback are provided about two to three weeks after testing has been completed. Based on the outcome, we also facilitate follow-up feedback sessions and provide therapeutic services if needed. However, referrals are offered if you consider someone else to be a more suitable fit.

After the results, we help you figure out the best way to disclose your diagnosis to loved ones or supervisors. Finally getting an accurate diagnosis can help you rebuild your confidence and self-esteem. Other people may have deemed you lazy or blamed you for your behavior, but this assessment gives you an opportunity to realize that the way you act isn’t your fault

At Neuron & Rose Psychological Services, ADHD testing, and evaluations for adults can open the door to clarity, understanding and a more purpose-driven life.

Perhaps You Still Have Some Concerns About ADHD Assessments…

Can you do this over telehealth?

Absolutely. It will be a combination of interviews, a computerized test, gathering information from others in your life if you so choose, and other tests/tasks completed with the examiner via telehealth. You can complete everything from the comfort of your own home.

What if it’s not ADHD, will you tell me what else it could be?

Yes. If we think there is something else that has contributed to your experiences, we may explore that with you and possibly do further testing. Or, we will let you know so you can explore it on your own, perhaps in therapy. If you have previous diagnoses or feel you have been misdiagnosed, please let us know, and we can dive into that. Feel free to ask questions throughout.

I want to be assessed but I’m concerned about the cost.

We definitely wouldn’t want that to hold you back. Our practice offers flexible payment options with payment plans and reduced rates for financial hardships. Just chat with Dr. Hogan in your consult, and we will set up an arrangement that works best for you.
