Our Promise

Autism Is Much More Common Than You Might Think

Though there is growing awareness surrounding Autism, it is still significantly misunderstood and misrepresented. Over the years, there has been an increase in diagnosis, moving from 1 in 110 to 1 in 36 (1). Recent research has highlighted the prevalence of Autism in girls and women. It used to be thought that for every four boys, there was one girl affected. Now, studies are suggesting it may actually be more common in girls, with 80 percent of women remaining undiagnosed at age 18 (2).

Autism Is Not Easily Understood By The Rest Of The World

In our culture, societal pressures and a desire to fit in often prompt you to mask your true self, camouflaging Autistic traits and ways of being, to be like everyone else. Consequently, many undiagnosed Autists or those who suspect they may be Autistic are left grappling with confusion and uncertainty about how to navigate life. This can result in continued depression, anxiety, and burnout.

Seeking an Autism evaluation is a vital step in obtaining a definitive diagnosis and gaining valuable insights into learning self-acceptance, improving your well-being, and finding a supportive community.

Our Offerings

At Neuron & Rose, we offer two tailored autism assessment options: Focused and Deep Dive. Both are conducted by licensed clinicians who specialize in neurodivergent-affirming practices, many of whom are Autistic, ADHD-ers, or AuDHD-ers, and grounded in the latest best practices, ensuring the same level of expertise and care.

Our Focused Offering is perfect for individuals seeking a faster, streamlined assessment process. This option minimizes paperwork and face-to-face time (about 5 hours) while still providing professional insights and clarity. We offer two levels at the focused option, a letter or a 3-5 page report! A MIGDAS-2 Diagnostic Interview is included with both Focused Options as well as the Deep Dive. Prior to receiving your report or letter, you will have a 1 hour feedback session to review the results of your evaluation.

What are your options with a Focused Offering?

  1. Focused Diagnostic Letter: This 1–2-page summary ($2,000) highlights your DSM-5-TR Autistic Traits Profile, research-validated questionnaire scores, and the importance of Autism identification. It includes screening results and offers concise information for sharing with medical professionals, employers, or disability offices.

  2. Focused Brief Report: This 3–5-page report ($2,400) expands on the diagnostic letter, adding more context about self-diagnosis validity, neurodivergent traits, and their relevance to your unique profile.

The Deep Dive is designed for those who may need in-depth support, services, or accommodations in school or the workplace. This comprehensive option involves more detailed evaluations and around 8-10 hours of face-to-face time. A personality inventory and standardized measures (SRS-2, SPM-2) are used in the Deep Dive offering only. Prior to receiving your report or letter, you will have up to 2 hours in your feedback session to review the results of your evaluation.

What happens at the end of the Deep Dive?

Deep Dive Report: Our most comprehensive option ($4,000), this 15–20-page document offers detailed insights, including raw data, in-depth information on masking, late identification, and neurodiversity-affirming strategies. It’s ideal for those needing robust support for accommodations or personal exploration

Each option reflects our neurodiversity-affirming approach, tailored to meet your goals.

For some, the diagnostic process is about more than just answers—it's about being truly seen and heard. Sharing your story can be a deeply healing experience, especially if you've been through non-affirming assessments in the past. Our Deep Dive option allows space to explore what your unique journey has looked like and offers clarity on where it might lead. Should you discover you're Autistic, we dedicate an additional hour during your feedback session to begin unpacking what this means for your life. Together, we'll explore next steps, resources, and strategies to help you embrace this new chapter with confidence and self-understanding.

The difference between these offerings lies in the level of detail and time commitment, not the validity or quality. We’re here to meet you where you are, offering high-quality evaluations tailored to your goals and needs.

Have Complex History?

For those with complex mental health histories, our Deep Dive option provides an opportunity to deeply explore past diagnoses and clarify potential misdiagnoses. If you’re uncertain about the accuracy of previous labels or are seeking validation, this comprehensive assessment allows us to unpack these complexities alongside your Autism evaluation. Please reach out to discuss which diagnoses can be explored as part of this assessment and which may require an additional fee. Some explorations that require an additional fee are as follows: OCD, Dyslexia, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities.

Our Comprehensive Evaluation Pricing Model

We want to ensure that as many people who need affirming care are able to access it. We have created a Pay What You Can model that supports our community while also taking into account the skills of our providers. In order to support these Pay What You Can spots, we have to maintain a certain amount of Full Pay spots, therefore, there may be a wait! We also have abbreviated evaluations at a lower cost.

Frequently Asked Questions About Autism Testing…

What if I don’t get an Autism Diagnosis? Was this even worth it? Do I get anything out of it?

Absolutely! Regardless of the outcome, our evaluations are designed to provide valuable insight into your strengths, challenges, and next steps. If you don’t receive an Autism diagnosis, we’ll work with you to explore self-accommodations, personalized recommendations, and resources that align with your unique experiences. While not getting a diagnosis can feel disappointing, it’s also an important step toward understanding yourself more deeply and identifying what support may be most beneficial for you. Our goal is to ensure that you leave the process with greater clarity, validation, and actionable strategies to navigate your world with confidence.

What if I'm high masking?

Don’t sweat it. We won’t dismiss you or say something like, "Oh, you smiled at me so you can't be Autistic." We delve deep into your lived experiences of Autistic traits and don’t rely on just our observations of you. We understand that many people, especially people raised as girls (AFABs) have been socialized to make more eye contact and to engage in give-and-take conversation. We’re up to date on the research of masking/camouflaging Autistic traits.

Is it worth it? Can I just self-diagnose?

Though there are many benefits to a formal assessment, it is not required by any means. Self-diagnosis is valid. You get to decide what is best for you and your needs. We can discuss more about the pros and cons of each method on the consult call and figure out what’s best for you.

I want an assessment, but I can’t afford the cost up front.

That’s okay!  Payment plans via CareCredit and Pay-What-You-Can Rates are available for Autism testing. Please inquire prior to your consult to discuss these options.

Can you formally diagnose adults with autism without having parents involved?

Yes! We do not require participation from anyone in your life other than you! We offer the option of having family, friends, spouses, etc involved, but only if you are comfortable.

Will my college/psychiatrist/whomever accept any diagnoses you provide?

With both our Deep Dive and Focused Offerings, it is never guaranteed that any outside provider/entity will recognize a diagnosis given by us. Please check in with any providers or institutions to see any requirements they have about the evaluation process that you engage in.

Can you explore other diagnoses? What would be the procedure if you want to explore other differentials?

In our deep dive, yes, we can both explore and diagnose, if appropriate and added on to your evaluation offering. This would occur after a discussion with your clinician, so please inquire about this option in your inquiry or during your initial meeting with the clinician. In our Focused, due to the nature of this offering, we can explore, but we cannot add additional diagnoses. If you want something fully explored, then a deep dive evaluation is what you are looking for!
