  • What does the testing process look like?

    All testing sessions are scheduled for two hour blocks of time. All appointments are typically scheduled about once every week with the whole process taking about 4-6 weeks on average. All evaluations are unique to individual clients, but an Autism Evaluation overview may include:

    1st Session: 2 Hours, Clinical Interview (Overview of History and Timeline, Life Story)

    2nd Session: Continue Clinical Interview as needed, usually about 1-2 hours.

    3rd Session: Autism interview (MIGDAS-2), generally 2 hours.

    4th Session: Discussion of results/Feedback session

    Some activities that occur in between sessions may include: Online personality test, self-report questionnaires, observer questionnaires or interviews if applicable.

  • How long are testing appointments?

    We will discuss what length of time is appropriate in your consultation. For developmental assessments, it will take approximately 1-2 hours. For more comprehensive testing, appointments can be between 2-3 hours.

  • When will I find out the results?

    We will schedule feedback 2-4 weeks after testing is completed.

  • When will I receive the report?

    It will be finalized after the feedback session, typically within 4-8 weeks.

  • Do you offer payment plans for testing?

    Yes! We are partnered with the CareCredit Healthcare Credit Card to offer 6-12 month payment plans on their Credit Card.

  • How do I know if you are the right therapist/provider for me?

    Take your time to read through the website. If you sense that one of our providers may be a good fit based on what you are reading, you can send us a message and ask to set up a consultation.

    During the free consultation, you can ask questions about their approach, or any other questions you may have that are specific-to-you. You’ll also be able to share what’s going on for you and you can decide together how they can help.

    Also feel free to chat about your interests and see if you connect with the provider on that level. We love to geek out with our clients!

    It may be helpful to think of the first few sessions as trying out the waters together. During the sessions, you’ll be able to understand how comfortable you feel in sessions. Go with your gut.

    Each therapist’s approach is not going to work for everyone. What’s most important is that you find someone who you feel is the right fit for you.

    If you aren’t connecting with your therapist or just don’t feel comfortable opening up (even after several sessions), it’s time to consider a switch.

  • Can you do testing virtually?

    Yes, we are Telehealth friendly! Most evaluations are conducted via zoom/video sessions. In-person appointments are generally unavailable/limited.

  • Can I be in the room during my child's evaluation?

    Generally no.

  • I'm nervous about starting therapy, is that normal?

    Therapy can be vulnerable and new, so it’s natural to be nervous. It can be scary to think of opening up or crying in front of someone new, perhaps fearing that it will be awkward and uncomfortable. The fear around that can feel overwhelming. Going to therapy even when you are nervous is not easy. It may take courage to take those steps. You reading this now shows that you are already stepping in the right direction.

    Therapy is a space where you can be yourself and come just as you are, including feeling nervous. We are committed to finding a way to care for your nervousness and ensure sessions are as comfortable as possible.

  • Does what we discuss remain confidential?

    It can be concerning feeling like things you say or do in therapy could “get out.” So you should know that unless you are suicidal, harming yourself, or someone else, what you say in sessions stays between you and me.

    There is nothing more important than your privacy.

    You can rest assured that you can talk about anything without fear of that information getting out.

  • Do you need past records?

    Yes, reviewing records such as past evaluations, IEPs, and report cards can be very helpful for both testing and therapy.

  • Can you help me find a therapist that would be a good fit for me?

    Yes! If we aren’t a good fit, we will provide referrals.

    At the end of the assessment process, we will provide a list of providers that we feel would be a good match with you.
